I keep meaning to write on all the hullaballoo that’s been going on in DC as of late. It seems you can’t turn on a tv, look at a newspaper or click on a website without being reminded of how “historical” the events of late are. As a huge history nerd, I find myself wanting to take in as much as possible to try to remember everything.
They started prepping for the inauguration as far back as the end of October. Then it seemed far away and hard to grasp. The frenzy has only grown as time goes on. I would say news related to bridge closings or security or new balls has been front and center in the local media for the past 2 weeks. It’s made even more difficult to escape when you live 0.5 miles from the White House and work across the street from it. I should be annoyed that secret service keeps rerouting pedestrians or that traffic is extra heavy when I try to walk home at the end of the day. In reality, I’m like a big kid who can’t belive how lucky I am to be so close to the action.
Since I’m still not so savy on how to embed media into my posts, I’ll give the link to my Picassa page where I put some photos I took of the Presidential Reviewing Stand. http://picasaweb.google.com/ldevereaux/Inauguration2009
In between leaving work today and coming back on Tuesday to take advantage of our location on the Parade route, I’m super pumped about Felicia coming into town and being a part of all the craziness. Hopefully the concert will be workable on Sunday…. Updates to follow.
